This year, 2020, is the 800th Anniversary of the first mention of a church on the site of St. George’s in Hinton St George although the church may have been there longer. To celebrate the presence of such a beautiful building and its continued part and relevance in village life down the ages, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) has conceived the idea of a programme of events throughout the year.
These events are not fund-raising opportunities but a chance for people to enjoy the church with friends, family and neighbours in an exciting and varied programme. As many of the events as possible will be free, although there may be a small charge for some to cover costs. We hope you can join us to celebrate such a significant milestone for the wonderful church of St George’s.
The organisers are aware of the risk to the programme from the current outbreak of coronavirus. Following recent Government guidance, it is with great regret that we have decided to defer the whole programme (with some possible exceptions) – see the Events page of this website for more details. It is our firm intention that the whole programme will be re-scheduled at a later date. Please monitor the website for further information as the situation unfolds.
